SHUFFLE·DRUMMER

Drum Machine Online — a Free Online Drum Machine with Real Swing, in Your Browser

Shuffle Drummer is a free online drum machine built by hip-hop producers around one idea: the beat has to groove. It runs entirely in your web browser, with no download, no plugin and no signup to start. Press play, pick a kit, turn the SWING knob, and you're programming beats within seconds, on desktop or on your phone.

Online drum machine in Shuffle Drummer: 16-step sequencer with kick, snare and hi-hat steps lit, 8-channel mixer, SWING and VINTAGE knobs and the SHUFFLE wheel
The STEP tab: a 2-bar boom bap pattern on the 16-step grid, with the mixer and the SWING knob above.

How to program a beat on the online drum machine

  1. Press play and turn the SHUFFLE wheel. Each position loads a hand-made groove (not a random one), so you start from something that already swings.
  2. Edit the steps in the STEP tab. Click a cell to add a kick, snare, hi-hat, open hat, cymbal or ride. Where you click sets the velocity: high in the cell for an accent, low for a ghost note, and you can drag up or down to fine-tune it.
  3. Dial in the groove. The SWING knob runs from 50% (straight) to 75% (hard shuffle). Switch on TIMING to drag a single hit early or late, off the grid, the way an MPC does it.
  4. Make it longer. Patterns are 2 bars by default; hit ×2 or ×4 for 4 or 8 bars, and change the grid to 1/8, 1/16 or 1/32, or to the 1/8T and 1/16T triplet grids, for rolls and triplet feels.
  5. Pick a kit and export. Open the DRUMS BANK to swap kits, then bounce the beat to WAV, export the pattern as MIDI, or share it with one link.

A drum machine that actually grooves

Most browser drum machines sound stiff because every hit lands exactly on the grid. Shuffle Drummer was built groove first. The shuffle engine, the swing knob and the per-hit timing mode work together so your hi-hats can drag and your snare can push, exactly like on hardware. Timing is handled at 96 pulses per quarter note, so a nudge is a real nudge, not a rounded one. If you want to understand what the knob is doing, read swing and shuffle explained.

Here is the kind of pattern you can program in a minute, the classic boom bap skeleton (■ = hit, ▪ = ghost note):

1e&a2e&a3e&a4e&a
Kick■■■
Snare■▪■
Hi-hat■▪■▪■▪■▪

Add 58–62% of swing and the off-beat hi-hats fall late, which is what makes a head nod. More patterns, with their swing settings, in the boom bap drum patterns guide.

What's inside

Made by producers, not just coders

Shuffle Drummer is developed by Mani Deïz, a French hip-hop producer making beats since 1998, together with three friends. It is the drum machine they always wanted: fast, groovy and free, with updates shipping every week. The whole audio engine runs locally in your browser on the Web Audio API, with zero dependencies.

« Une boîte à rythmes gratuite vraiment géniale » (“a genuinely great free drum machine”) — Korben, September 2026

Learn drum programming

The drum machine comes with step-by-step guides written by the producer behind it: swing and shuffle explained, six boom bap drum patterns, how to make a beat online from scratch, and how to make a lo-fi beat. All of them can be followed directly in the machine.
